I use the mod wheel to control dynamics and expression.Īfter I complete the take, I am happy with the notes but want to re-do only the mod-wheel automation.īut when I hit record and move the mod wheel, the automation seems to be duplicating over what is already there creating a wicked, double amount of automation points (see photo) and causing it to sound super unnatural. I hit record and played a cello piece for example. Ultimately, here's what I want to happen: I understand the differences between Read, Touch, Latch, and Write and have tried all of them. But one thing has baffled me, and I feel I must be missing something simple, is recording over or replacing existing automation. Logic makes sense and has a great workflow (and is much easier on the eyes). Over the last couple years I have moved more into composing orchestral music, and Logic seems to be more suited for this over Ableton so I'm testing the waters. I am a decade long Ableton user, and have used Logic occasionally in conjunction with other artists over the years so I am mildly familiar.
